Stretch marks are caused by skin suddenly stretching due to growth, the upper layer of skin breaks, the deeper layers then show through. Many, many people have them (even if they won’t admit it, or hide them) and they are entirely normal.

Some people have thigh gaps due to the width of their pelvis and the size of their thighs. I think they’re generally seen as a sign of being thin, but everybody’s body is different, and so it’s not that simple. It’s far more important to be healthy and fit in general than to worry about matching someone else features (who might have an entirely different body-type).

      Hi TwinkleThighs,

Stretch marks can be caused by growth, as Rob said.

People have thigh gaps depending on the structure of their bones/pelvis. But naturally occurring thigh gaps are not very common. Most people achieve thigh gaps when they lose fat and muscle from around their thighs through diet and restriction. This isn’t very healthy!

I think as a society we sometimes idolise people who look a certain way or are very thin, that’s why people start to want to look a certain way. But as Rob said, its much more important to love your body and be healthy! I think the more different shapes and sizes we come in, the better! Not everyone has to be thin.
