Usually chickenpox only happens once in someone’s lifetime because after they have had it once, they are immune to the chickenpox virus. But there are very rare cases where it can happen twice.

When we get chicken pox our immune system kicks into overdrive and creates a way to kill the virus. The antibodies we make stay with us, and kill off the virus if we come back into contact with it before we get sick.
