      Hi izzy, great question.

      Like Mageen said, nobody can really predict what will happen to the Earth in the distance future, but we can make some statements about the maximum time that it will probably be around for.

      When the sun begins to die, it will cool and begin to swell up into a type of star called a red giant. At this point it will become so large that it is likely that it will swallow up the Earth and completely destroy it! This will not likely happen for another 5 billion years though, so we don’t have anything to worry about for the moment!
