I helped develop a piece of equipment that can be used to quickly and easily check if a drink is genuine or not. It’s now used across the world by the entire industry. It’s wonderful knowing that my work is out there helping people.

My best achievement so far is my PhD thesis, the final report for my PhD. It was nearly 300 pages long in the end, by far the longest thing I’ve ever written! And the best part is that I can call myself Dr Rob Stanley.

A few months ago I went to the houses of parliment (where Big Ben is) to speak with MPs about my work and the research we are doing at Bristol University. The day involved me standing next to a poster describing my work, talking to MPs and scientist as they walked past.

There was a competition at the end to see who was able to describe their work best, and I managed to win it! I was awarded a big gold medal called the Cavendish medal, and even won some money too (which I used to buy an engagement ring)! It was a really great day and is something I’m very proud of.
