An ecosystem is the name for all of the animals, plants, insects, and other natural things in some region of the world. The regions can be big or small.

A garden can be described as an ecosystem, with birds eating snails, eating your prize vegetables. The Amazon rainforest could also be described as an ecosystem, but we could also probably say that it is a collection of ecosystems that are related.
