Fluoride was added to our drinking water to help prevent tooth decay, as fluoride helps strengthen our tooth enamel. Water that doesn’t contain fluoride, such as well water, has no effect on tooth decay.

It started being added because our diets have changed a lot over recent decades. We eat a lot more sugary and acidic foods and these attack our tooth enamel.

I don’t think it will increase tooth decay!
