• Question: If you had to pick between you not being a scientist and saving many lives or being a scientist while many people die of something which you could have cured. What would you pick?

      Of course I’d give up being a scientist if it meant I could save lives!

      We all have to make choices about what job we want to do, and its understandable that people don’t always do the job that would help the most people (as long as you still care about the wellbeing of others). There’s a better chance that I would more directly save many lives as a doctor or a firefighter, but I’m not sure I would be very good at either! I’m very happy I have a job where (in a very small way) I’m working towards knowledge that might one day help someone.

      But if I would have to pick: I would prefer to save the lives.
