• Question: Do you endorse in Animal testing?

      This is a very hard question. Ideally we wouldn’t have to use animals. But I (along with lots of other people) think that at the moment it’s the only way we can try and create drugs for many diseases (and we would never want to try them first on humans).

      There are guidelines from the government about how and when animal testing is appropriate, and they are very strict on making sure any animals are treated well. I think this is good.

      Other scientists are working out ways that we might be able to do the same experiments without animals, but we’re not quite there yet.
