Well it depends on what you are interested in studying! We are interested in the development of the “social brain” so we are quite interested in the area of the brain that helps us understand social cues and social interaction.
I think that the Anterior Cingulate Cortex which is a collar-shaped area of the brain which encompasses the frontal part of the corpus callosum, is responsible for the control of behaviour and emotions which I think is quite interesting!
That’s a really tough question and I’m no expert in the area, but I can tell you the bit that I find most interesting. I would really like to understand consciousness, or the part of the brain that gives us consciousness (if there is one). I think it’s really interesting that we, and seemingly some animals, seem to have an awareness of who we are, or an awareness of self. That little voice inside your head that processes whether you think and action is right, or how you are feeling, or what you are doing. I think it’s a really interesting feature of being human, and I’d love to find out if other animals have a similar experience!
Maybe I will have to do some reading on the subject and let you know what I find!
