      Probably penicillin. It was the first antibiotic and it has saved millions and millions of lives. It opened a new era of medical research and has improved more lives than you could count 🙂

      I think that computers were a really important invention. They have completely transformed our lives and the scientific community!

      Hi The Van-Der-Webbers – so many to choose from! Fire? Farming? Agriculture? Electricity? Medicine? The internet?

      If I had to limit myself to the most important invention in the last 50 years or so, I would have to agree with Maheen and say the modern computer. Nearly everything we take for granted now: mobile phones, laptops, the internet, cars, aeroplanes, music and film production, …, all rely on a computer at some point in the process. We’d really be at a loss without them.
